Executive Coating and Contracting News & Press
EOY finalist: Jason McCool, president, Executive Coatings and Contracting Inc.
Jason McCool identifies himself as a born entrepreneur.
“When I was young, I would buy cheap six-packs of soda then sell cans on the corner for 50 cents,” he said. “Anything as a kid to make money.”
At 15, McCool started his own pizza store in the Colorado Springs Mega-Mart. He also worked for his dad’s painting company until he turned 18 and left to begin his own painting business. A headstrong teen, McCool was convinced he could manage things better, and he has never worked for anyone else since, he said.
McCool’s Colorado Springs-based business painting homes gradually expanded to apartment buildings. The business eventually outgrew its home, and McCool moved it and his family to Denver. He said the move was one of the company’s biggest turning points.
Today, Executive Coatings and Contracting Inc. has a strong presence in metro Denver and Colorado Springs, recently expanding to Nevada and Michigan. Executive Coatings now is based in Englewood and specializes in the exterior painting of multifamily buildings. The company currently has seven employees and more than 400 sub-contractors.
Executive Coatings also has added other contracting work such as carpentry and gutter repair.
McCool credits the company’s success to its honesty with customers and its willingness to do a more thorough job than its competitors, offering a fair bid for quality work.
“We don’t have any secrets,” McCool said. “I just do what everyone knows needs to be done.”
